Where do I store non-Australian bank account details?
Quick Answer
In custom fields on the Custom tab of the Accounts form.
Overview
The Bank accounts form is primarily designed for Australian bank accounts. Accentis Enterprise uses this information when generating electronic payment files (ABA files), so the standard bank account fields are generally only suitable for Australian banking requirements.
If you have a non-Australian bank account that requires additional or different banking information to be stored, we recommend using custom fields.
Custom fields
For foreign bank accounts, any additional information should be stored as custom fields on the Custom tab of the Accounts form.
This information may include:
- IBAN numbers
- ACH routing numbers
- Wire transfer instructions
- Foreign account codes
- Any other country-specific banking details
If you need additional fields to store foreign banking information, please contact our support team at support@accentis.com.au and we can assist with adding the fields you require.
While fields such as the APCA number field are only validated for length and could potentially be used to store a value such as a US ACH routing number, we recommend having dedicated custom fields created for foreign banking information. This provides a more flexible and maintainable solution that can be tailored to your specific requirements.
Showing foreign bank account details on invoices
The information stored in these custom fields can also be displayed on invoice reports. Reports can even be configured to show different banking details based on the currency of the invoice.
For example, the report can be configured to:
- Detect the invoice currency.
- Display standard Australian banking details for local currency invoices.
- Display a separate foreign banking details panel for invoices issued in foreign currencies.
This approach allows you to maintain a single invoice report while automatically displaying the appropriate payment instructions for each customer and currency.
If you would like any customisations made to your reports, please contact our support team at support@accentis.com.au.
